the groom

Nicole is someone I can count on through life's challenges and someone I can celebrate with during life's joys. Nicole is beautiful, energetic and hard working—but it's her Faith that won me over. We have both grown a lot over the past couple years, in ways neither of us had expected. Ways we wouldn't have grown alone. I look forward for what comes next. I am excited about the future.

Nicole is someone I've always felt at home with. I've always felt comfortable in her presence, even the day I asked her to marry me. As we ascended Twin Sisters on the edge of Rocky Mountain National Park, I thought about how climbing a mountain was a lot like the marriage I saw with Nicole. There would be moments to stop and enjoy the view and moments we'd need to work together and trust one another. Asking her to marry me was one of the easiest things I've done, because I look forward to what lies ahead and know there's no one I'd rather be there with.

Josh is quiet and reserved with a unique sense of humor. I remember the first time we met. He was standing by himself at my roommate's (his cousin's) wedding. I thought he was attractive, so I decide I would strike up a conversation. Conversation seemed to go pretty well and I found him interesting. At the end of the night he asked me to go on a date the next time he was in Des Moines. I said sure, but since he didn't ask for my number I asked him if he wanted it. To my surprise he said "no". Lucky for me, mutual friends shared the number and he called the next night! We have been together ever since.

Over the last two years I have learned to appreciate his thoughtfulness and creativity. Josh is very talented and selfless. He has stood by me and supported me and my family through sickness and deaths. I am so thankful God has given Josh to me as a gift to love for the rest of my life. I cannot wait for the opportunities, challenges, and fun we will be blessed with in our married life together!
